How to Care for a Lithium Ion Battery for a PC Notebook

March 17th, 2012

Most laptop computers now run on lithium batteries. This is because lithium batteries hold charges longer and can provide continuous power longer. However, to ensure that a Aspire 5535 Battery holds its peak performance you need to take special care of it. You can do this without any special tools or programs.Instructions1Shut down the notebook computer when you are not using it. Leaving the laptop computer on at all times is going to shorten the overall life of the Acer Aspire 5552 Battery. 2 Allow the battery to run all the way down before performing a charge. If your lithium ion battery becomes accustomed to charging when the battery is only half full it will start to forgo using the second half of the battery, shrinking the charge time of your Sony Np-fc11 Battery.  3 Keep the laptop and the lithium ion battery out of extreme heat and cold. This can wreak havoc on the battery and cause it to malfunction. Using the laptop battery in the cold can also quickly reduce the charge.4 Power down the computer when the battery begins to overheat. This typically occurs while watching DVD movies and playing video games. Overheating the lithium ion Toshiba Tecra a2 battery can permanently damage it.

How to Charge Lithium Batteries

March 17th, 2012

Lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries are generally considered to be superior to their rechargeable ACER TravelMate 4320 battery predecessors, nickel cadmium and nickel metal hydride batteries. Lithium chemistry batteries offer a significant advantage in that they do not develop a “memory,” which is a name for the condition of a battery suffering from a reduced capacity if it is not fully discharged and then fully charged each cycle. Lithium COMPAQ Armada M300 batteries are therefore easier to charge. There are a few best practices to follow for charging them.

Instructions1

1.    Use only the provided charger for your lithium Presario C307NR battery cells as they are specifically designed to provide the proper current to your battery cells or pack. These chargers usually provide a constant current of 0.2 C to 0.7 C, depending on the manufacturer. The charger will also keep this charge rate until the cells reach 4.2 V and hold it there until the charge current has dropped to 10 percent of the initial charge rate.2.       Insert the battery or battery pack into the charger. Unlike other battery chemistry types, it is not necessary to wait until the battery is fully discharged before charging it. You may charge it at any time, and “topping off” a Dell Latitude D620 battery causes no problems. 3.       Plug in your charger to a standard 110 V electrical outlet. 4.       Unplug the charger from the electrical outlet, and then remove the battery from the charger once the indicator light on the charger shows that the battery is fully charged. Again, unlike other batteries, you may also remove the lithium battery at any time from the charger and the cell should suffer no ill effects. Although waiting until the battery is fully charged will of course give you a longer run time, removing the FUJITSU FMV-B8200 battery earlier will not permanently decrease the battery’s capacity.

Apple’s teaser image for the event showed

March 8th, 2012

The next iPad doesn’t appear to have been a well-kept secret. Everyone under the sun has been expecting a Retina Display since soon after the iPad 2 launched. A faster processor, an upgraded GPU, a bigger battery, and improved cameras are also highly anticipated. We’ve even seen outer casings, which are slightly thicker and more tapered than the iPad 2. So there isn’t a lot left to the imagination.
But this is Apple that we’re talking about. The company likes to have its Willy Wonka moments, where the entire world sits, mouths agape at some breathtaking demonstration. It’s why “one more thing” has become one of the company’s most famous lines. So what could Apple possibly surprise us with next Wednesday when it reveals the next iPad?

Name

We’re all assuming that it will be called the iPad 3. Another name that has been tossed around is the iPad 2S. But there’s nothing stopping Apple from naming it something else entirely.
iPad HD? iPad Pro? Your guess is as good as mine. Though it will probably be called the iPad 3, we won’t know for sure until next Wednesday.

No home button

This is an old rumor that resurfaced after Apple’s teaser image for the event showed a Retina Display iPad without a home button. Was it a Photoshop job, or the real deal?
We’ll find out next week, but we wouldn’t rule out the axing of the home button. It would be a way of simplifying the product, and Apple has a history of cutting anything that isn’t essential. With the iPad’s multitasking gestures, you could argue that the home button now lands in that non-essential category.

3D gestures

If Apple uses 3D gestures in iOS, this probably won’t show until another few years down the road. But if we’re waxing poetic about potential surprises in the iPad 3, this would qualify as one. A combination of the front-facing camera and a proximity sensor could allow you to pan, zoom, scroll, and multitask without even touching your display.

Siri

Software is much easier to keep under wraps than hardware (those darn supply chain leaks do it every time), so we’re more likely to see surprises in the software department.
One software possibility for the iPad event is Siri. Though this has been bandied about the rumor mill, it isn’t nearly as highly expected as, say, the Retina Display or an upgraded camera. The virtual assistant will (probably) eventually run on all of Apple’s devices, so the iPad would be a logical next step, after its Fall debut on the iPhone 4S.

Aperture

The Retina display, upgraded processor, and improved camera would give Apple the perfect opportunity to release Aperture for iPad. Apple could use this to upstage Adobe’s promising — but flawed — Photoshop Touch.
As tablets transform into more serious content production tools, Apple wouldn’t want to miss the chance to establish its own apps as the leaders in the field. Aperture for iPad would let Apple use its moment in the spotlight to introduce the world to “the most advanced photo editing app for mobile devices.” Apple could intertwine it with iCloud, as an answer to Adobe’s Creative Cloud.
If Aperture actually takes a step forward from its desktop counterpart, and includes (thus far) absent features like layers and masks, then Apple could establish Aperture for iPad as a halo app to eventually overtake consumer-level Photoshop Elements on the desktop.

Netflix rival

This is the longest of longshots, as we would have undoubtedly heard many rumors about content deals being struck. An iTunes subscription streaming service could happen at some point, but it would be a huge surprise — and a monumental show of secrecy — for it to be revealed next week.

iCloud gaming

Onlive’s iPad app was originally set to launch in early December. But it still hasn’t made it to the App Store, and Onlive has been quiet on the subject. Could Apple be set to launch its own rival game streaming service? It has the clout (and cash) to land top-tier content deals, and it could make a splash with the right games at launch. The Onlive rejection (or delay) could then be due to the app’s “duplicating of iOS features.”

Console-quality gaming apps

Barring a streaming service, Apple could still promote the new iPad as a legit gaming console. The tablet should have an upgraded GPU, which would allow for a mind-blowing keynote demonstration of console-esque games on the iPad. This could start to plant the seed in customers’ minds that the iPad is in the same category as the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii. Getting top studios like Rockstar Games involved would be the icing on the cake.

Apple game controller accessory

Could we see an Apple gaming accessory introduced? If we’re talking about Apple pushing the iPad as a console replacement, then a controller wouldn’t be inconceivable. There were recent rumors about an unknown accessory being revealed at the event. Perhaps the physical controller would snap into place via magnets (like the Smart Cover), and connect via Bluetooth?

Apple TV update

Signs are pointing to an imminent Apple TV refresh. As the company prepares us all for the iTV (or whatever the eventual TV set is called), it could use the iPad event as a way to introduce more people to the existing set-top box.
If a new Apple TV box were introduced at the event, then Airplay would take center stage. This would fit perfectly with the above console gaming possibility. Apple could show the world that the combination of an iPad 3, iController, and Apple TV give you a home console experience that beats anything Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are doing.

Surprise, surprise

Do we think any of these are strong possibilities? Probably not. Siri and the Apple TV update are probably the most likely of these scenarios, but they’re far from sure things.
No matter what Apple brings, though, here’s to hoping that there’s something left to surprise us. After all, these are just electronic gadgets. Sure, they can be useful; but we enjoy them because they’re fun. Surprises can be a big part of that fun.

Camera battery ‘ripped out by garda’

March 8th, 2012

A witness in the trial of a garda accused of assaulting a protester at the 2002 ‘Reclaim the Streets’ march in Dublin has claimed that the camera battery of his video camera was ripped out by a garda.

Mr Aidan O’Brien, who filmed the event on behalf of ‘Indymedia’, was giving evidence in the trial of Garda Paul Tallon of Mountjoy Station, Dublin, who has pleaded not guilty to assault causing harm to Mr Fergal Leddy on May 6, 2002.

Mr O’Brien told defence counsel Mr Martin Giblin SC (with Mr Breffni Gordon BL) that he was approached by a garda who had a baton at his shoulder. He said the garda grabbed his camera and “we struggled for a moment” before he said the garda “ripped the battery from my camera”.

Mr O’Brien said there was no structure to the way the event was filmed and that no one from Indymedia dictated who or what should be filmed on the day.

However, he said that he later fell into an organisational role and the group began to work in a “more cohesive way” when they realised they had their hands on “important video footage.”

Earlier, Mr Cian O’Callaghan, whose video footage has been shown to the jury by the prosecution, said that he had taken more footage on Dame Street, where the assault is alleged to have taken place, than he did on Burgh Quay.

Mr Breffni Gordon BL, defending, said that he did not wish to use the word “selective” but suggested that that “seems to be the way it panned out”.

Mr O’Callaghan said that most of the time there wasn’t much happening on Burgh Quay and that people were dancing and listening to the sound system.

However, he said that there was a “bit of tension” there involving a smoke bomb being placed in a car and that he saw a man on crutches being dragged away by gardaí “with no regard for his condition”.

The trial was adjourned for the afternoon after one of the jury members injured himself during the lunch break and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Liquid Metal Battery Could Budget Sun’s Energy

March 8th, 2012

David Greene talks to materials chemist Donald Sadoway from the TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) conference in Long Beach, Calif. Sadoway is the co-inventor of the liquid metal sony vaio vgn-cr506e battery. It’s inexpensive, super efficient, sustainable and can provide large scale energy storage.Copyright © 2012 National Public Radio®. For personal, noncommercial use only. See Terms of Use. For other uses, prior permission required.RENEE MONTAGNE, HOST: Now news of what could be a miracle battery. Before you get too excited, it’s not a battery that will give you extra juice in your cell phone or your laptop. But it is possible that a system of these new batteries could one day supply electricity to your neighborhood. We’re talking about a liquid metal dell 6y270 battery. MORNING EDITION’s David Greene talked to the inventor, MIT professor Donald Sadoway.DAVID GREENE, BYLINE: That’s right. we caught up with Professor Sadoway at the Technology Entertainment and Design conference in Long Beach, California, where smart people like Sadoway get together to talk about their ideas. So, Professor Sadoway, what’s this battery look like?DONALD SADOWAY: The battery’s designed for stationary storage. So it’s - this is supposed to sit in a room or a small shed. The largest ones that we have right now, they look like giant aspirins. They’re about 16 inches in diameter and about four inches tall.GREENE: Looks like a small box, maybe, that would carry some magazines or books.SADOWAY: Exactly.GREENE: Tell us what this Sony vaio vgn-cr506e battery is supposed to do. I mean, if it’s sitting there in a shed, what do you hope it can accomplish?SADOWAY: Take the electricity that’s being generated by the sun during the daytime and save some of that energy - in other words, budget the energy, so that if you took the amount of energy that’s being harvested over the daylight hours, and instead distributed that energy over 24 hours, then you’d know how much - while it’s being generated - to store, and how much to send to the grid. And then after sunset, you can then call upon the battery to deliver some of that energy that you’d been storing through the day.GREENE: You can take power from the wind and the sun and kind of use these chemicals in the pa3383u-1brs battery to hang onto it and then deliver it to a grid when the time is right.SADOWAY: Exactly. We like to say that with this battery, you can draw electricity from the sun, even when the sun doesn’t shine.GREENE: We’re using the term grid. I mean, is this something that could power a home, a city?SADOWAY: Yes. The Dell Vostro 1710 AC Adapter battery is scalable to different applications. So, for example, we have one variant of the technology where we take the battery and make it about the size of a 40-foot shipping container. And that would have enough capacity to meet the daily electrical needs of about 200 American households. But there have been conversations about whether we could scale this down to something about the size of a large refrigerator that could sit in the basement of a home. And in an ideal situation, you might have a solar collector on the roof. And, again, you’d take the energy through the daytime and store it and then call upon it in the evening.GREENE: Interesting. So there might be a day when we’re not going to have to be sending our money to the electric - the power company?SADOWAY: Well, there might be a day where, if you generate more electricity than you need, your home could be an electricity source contributing to the grid, in which case you come home and you discover there’s been a deposit to your bank account for the energy that you’ve sold to your neighbors.GREENE: I want to ask you, we caught you at the Technology Entertainment and Design conference, and you and other people were talking about different ideas. I understand that when you teach about chemistry or other topics, you often use music. You give it a backbeat.SADOWAY: That’s correct.GREENE: Is there a song that would be a perfect fit to teach about liquid pa3331u-1brs battery?SADOWAY: Maybe something along the lines of “Power to the People.”GREENE: Nice. I like the idea.Donald Sadoway is a professor of materials chemistry at MIT, and also sounds like he’s a DJ. He joined us from the Technology Entertainment and Design conference in Long Beach, California.Professor, thanks so much.

How Do I Extend My Laptop’s Battery Life

December 26th, 2011

Maybe you’ve spent a family reunion, long plane ride, or seemingly endless wait in a lobby the same way I have – with your nose buried in a laptop hoping that no one tries to engage you in idle chit-chat. Your excuse, however, has one fatal flaw – a lenovo ideapad y530 20009 battery , which will probably die when you need it most. Luckily, you can extend your laptop’s battery life an extra hour or two with a few minor sacrifices. 1. Switch Windows to Power Saver mode. The Power Saver mode will shut off the screen after a user-defined period of inactivity, and will put the laptop into sleep mode if it isn’t used again within a certain period of time. Click the sony vaio pcg-nv200 battery icon on the right-side of the desktop menu, then click More Power Options. Select the radio button next to Power Saver. If you don’t want to use the default settings, click Change plan settings next to the Power Saver option, and choose custom time durations for the Screen Off and Hibernate options.2. Reduce the backlight. This is especially true for laptops that don’t have an LED backlight. Operating at max screen brightness probably isn’t necessary in most of the situations you use your laptop, especially indoors. Though the screen may seem too dim when you first lower it, give it a few minutes - it might seem like a perfectly comfortable level of illumination after your eyes have adjusted. To reduce the backlight, press the Fn and Lower Brightness hotkeys on your keyboard.3. Shut off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not needed. Having Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on can drain your laptop hp mini 110 battery a significant amount. If you’re using your laptop in a location where one or both wireless connectivity features aren’t needed, disable them by selecting the correct hotkeys on your keyboard or pressing the dedicated Wireless and Bluetooth buttons on your computer.4. Avoid heavy processes. Playing a game, downloading files, watching a DVD… these are all activities that require your laptop to run under a heavier CPU load, which drains the hp mini 210-1175ca battery faster than normal. If you don’t have a CPU monitor on your desktop, you can view the current processor load by right-clicking on the taskbar and choosing Start Task Manager. The bottom of the Task Manager lists percentages next to the CPU Usage and Physical Memory items. If CPU Usage displays a high percentage, scroll through the list of running processes in the Task Manager and terminate any that you don’t need (right-click on the process and choose End Process). Don’t terminate any process unless you know for certain it is not essential to the operation of your PC. Terminating relatively low-impact processes won’t lower the CPU load significantly.5. Throttle your CPU. Some laptops are loaded with CPU throttling software, which allows users to reduce the machine’s processor speed to conserve sony pcga-bp71 battery life. Throttling the CPU can significantly increase hp mini 1000 battery life, but will limit the processes you’re capable of running, so only use this feature if you’re performing light tasks, such as moderate web browsing or word processing. The location of the throttle feature (if your laptop has it) will vary based on your machine’s specific make and model; consult your laptop’s manual, or check out the manufacturer’s website for more info.

GammaTech unveils its rugged Durabook R13C convertible notebook

December 26th, 2011

Laptops and now tablets are essential to our daily lives - both business and leisure - but take that computer outside beyond a sidewalk café, and you’ll realize this device is really out of its element. For those who work in the field, more than just a plastic or thin metal shell is required to protect their hardware. The R13C convertible computer from GammeTech has all the features to pass Military Standard 810G certification, and then some.

The GammaTech R13C convertible laptop screen can be read in bright sunlight  Ports are easy to access, and protect, on the GammaTech R13C    The GammaTech R13C ruggedized laptop has a tough magnesium alloy case

The portable PC passes certification tests for drop, shock, and spill protection. It also stands up to an explosive atmosphere such as operation near a mine or other explosions. The rugged features also include protection against salt, fog, freezing and thawing.

Part of the Durabook line of rugged computers, the R13C is an upgraded version of the R13S. The R13C is a convertible computer, meaning it operates as a laptop, but the screen also swivels and operates as a touch screen tablet for different applications. The Durabook comes with an Intel Core Low Power i7-620LM vPro Processor, which means more laptop battery time in the field. It can be built up to 8GB of system memory.

The 2.5-inch shock-mounted SATA hard drive has its own heater, and a quick removal feature for those moments when you just have to pull the drive. Additional drives and inputs on the system include an ultra slim super-multi DVD drive; I/O ports including a built-in RS-232 serial port with RS-422/485 optional; a low-voltage express card slot with a PC card slot option; two USB ports; SIM card connector; SD card reader and other media inputs.

Standing up to the elements is one thing, but taking a beating is another story. In addition to the IP65 rating, which means portions of the unit are protected against contact with dust, water and just about anything else, the convertible computer is housed in a magnesium alloy case that’s 20 times stronger than the ABS plastic typically used for laptops, and often rugged laptops. GammaTech tested the R13C to Military Standard 810G, and a version rated for Military Standard 461E/F is available as an option.

Display is another feature where rugged laptops often get the shaft, with dim images in sunlight, and typically a smaller screen. The R13C features a 13.3-inch multi-touch shock-mounted, 1,000-nit LCD sunlight readable screen. The screen has a lock and eight-level adjustable LED, to be sure you can see the display in sunlight - which typically washes out most laptop screens.

A comparable ruggedized laptop, the GETAC X500 released early summer 2011, features a 15.6-inch QuadraClear sunlight-readable LED display with 1,000 cd/m2 of brightness.

The GammaTech R13C is available through GammaTech and authorized resellers. Details on the cost of the R13C are not available at this point.

Breathe new life into your laptop’s battery

December 19th, 2011

Eventually and unavoidably, laptop batteries die. And they don’t obey Moore’s Law: next year’s batteries are unlikely to last twice as long as this year’s. Battery technology may improve a bit over time, but don’t expect major battery breakthroughs in the near future.
Proper care can delay the inevitable. With luck, your battery could last until you need to replace your aging notebook (perhaps with a laptop that has longer battery life). I’ve also included a few tips on keeping the battery going longer between charges, so you can work longer without AC power.
Don’t run it downSqueezing every drop of juice out of a lithium ion HP Compaq Business Notebook 6715b Battery (the type used in today’s laptops) strains and weakens it. Doing this just once or twice won’t kill the battery, but the cumulative effect of frequently emptying your notebook battery will be to shorten its life span. (For the one exception to this rule, see “Heal a sick battery” on the next page.)
The good news is, you probably can’t run down the battery, anyway – at least not without going to a lot of trouble. Most modern laptop models are designed to shut down before the Acer Aspire 5920 Battery is completely exhausted; in fact, both Vista and Windows 7 come with a setting created expressly for this purpose. To see it, click Start, type power, and select Power Options. Click any one of the ‘Change plan settings’ links, and then click the Change advanced power settings link. In the resulting dialogue box, scroll down to and expand the Dell Inspiron 1545 Battery option, and then expand Critical battery level. The setting you see there will probably be about 5%, which is a good place to leave it.
For its part, Windows XP offers no such native setting, although your laptop might carry a vendor-supplied tool that does the same job.
Myth: You should never recharge your battery all the way.
Considerable controversy surrounds this issue, and I have interviewed experts both in favor and opposed. But I’ve come down on the side of recharging a notebook’s battery all the way. The advantages of leaving home armed with a fully charged Acer Aspire 4738z Battery– you can use your PC longer without AC power – are worth the slight risk of doing damage.
Dell J399N Replacement Laptop Battery
Keep it coolHeat breaks down the battery and reduces its overall life. When you use your laptop, make sure that the vents are unblocked. Never work with the laptop on pillows or cushions. If possible, put it on a raised stand that permits plenty of airflow.
Also, clean the vents every so often with a can of compressed air; you can buy one at any computer store. Be sure to follow the directions on the can, and do this only when the notebook is turned off.
Dell J590M Replacement Laptop Battery
Give it a restIf you’re going to be working exclusively on AC power for a week or more, remove the laptop Compaq Presario cq60 Battery first.
Otherwise, you’ll wear out the battery – constantly charging and discharging it – at a time when you don’t need to use it at all. You’ll also heat the battery up (see “Keep it cool” above).
You don’t want it to be too empty when you take it out. An unused battery loses power over time, and you don’t want all the power to drain away, so make sure the Acer Aspire 5742 Battery is at least half-charged when you remove it.

Never remove the battery while the PC is on, or even in standby or sleep mode; doing so will crash your system and possibly damage the hardware. Even inserting a Dell Inspiron N5010 Battery into a running laptop can harm the system. Remove or reinsert the battery only when the laptop is completely off or hibernating.
If you’ve never removed your laptop battery, consult its documentation. (If you don’t have that, you can probably find the details online.) The instructions typically involve turning the laptop upside-down and holding a button while you slide the battery out.
Don’t allow the battery to go too long without exercise or to run out of juice entirely. If you go without the battery for more than two months, put it in the PC and use it for several hours, and then remove it again. Also, before you take the laptop on the road, reinsert the Dell Inspiron 15R Battery and let it charge for a few hours before you unplug the machine. Allow the battery time to obtain a full charge before you remove the AC power.
Dell F287H Replacement Laptop Battery
Heal a sick batteryMyth: You can rejuvenate a worn-out battery.
This isn’t the case, strictly speaking. You can’t make degraded lithium hold more electrons than it does now. But if the battery is running out unexpectedly fast, or if your laptop is having trouble figuring out how much power it has left, you may be able to fix the battery’s “petrol gauge” so that it gives you a more accurate reading.
If you suspect that the Hp Probook 4510s Battery can’t determine whether it’s charged or not, run it through a couple of cycles: drain it, recharge it to 100%, and then repeat. How do you drain the battery? Don’t bother with the settings described in “Don’t run it down” on the previous page. Altering them isn’t safe (since you might forget to change them back), they may not be getting an accurate reading, and they quite possibly won’t let you set the critical battery level to 0%. (If they did, Windows would likely crash.)
Instead, unplug the AC power and keep your laptop running (you can work on it if you like) until it automatically hibernates. Then reboot the PC and go directly to the system setup program. I can’t tell you how to find your way there; each computer is different. Turn on the PC and look for a message that says something like ‘Press the X key for setup.’ Immediately press the designated key.
Getting the timing right may take a couple of tries. If the PC doesn’t have enough power to boot, plug in AC until you’re at the setup program, and then unplug it.

Leave the notebook on until it shuts off. This can take some time (45 minutes on my laptop); setup uses a lot less power than Windows does. Once the laptop is off, plug in the AC power, and then wait a few hours before rebooting to Windows and confirming that you have a full recharge. Repeat the process once or twice.
With some luck and proper care, your Acer Aspire 5920g Battery will still be useful when you’re looking for a new laptop.
Replacement laptop battery for Dell U011C, 312-0814, W298C
Extend a battery’s life between chargesThe tips I’ve outlined above should lengthen the amount of time before you need to replace your laptop’s battery. On a day-to-day basis, however, you should be far more concerned with another type of Acer Aspire 5732z Battery life: how long you can keep your laptop running without AC power. You may know most of the following tips already, but it never hurts to refresh (or recharge) your memory.
Dim your screen: Your laptop’s backlight uses a lot of juice. Keep it as dim yet readable as you comfortably can.
Shut off unneeded hardware: Turn off Bluetooth. If you’re not using the internet, turn off the laptop’s Wi-Fi receiver, as well. Don’t use an external mouse or other device. And finally, mute the notebook’s sound system; this not only saves power but also avoids annoying everyone else in the cafe.
Avoid multimedia: Save hefty chores such as photo editing and watching videos for when your system has AC power. If you must listen to music, use your iPod (or a similar dedicated device).
Know when to sleep and when to hibernate: You need to think about when you want to save power by sending your laptop into Standby or Sleep mode, and when you want to hibernate it.
There is a difference. XP’s Standby mode and Vista and Windows 7’s Sleep mode keep your PC on, using some power, but less of it than in normal use. Hibernate saves the PC’s state to the hard drive, and then shuts it off entirely so that the system uses no power.
Regrettably, Windows takes much longer – sometimes minutes – to enter and leave hibernation. And during those minutes, the SONY NP-F970 battery is draining heavily and you can’t work.
Windows XP’s Standby mode isn’t really all that efficient. If you know that your XP laptop will be inactive for more than about half an hour, hibernate it. Otherwise, use Standby.
Vista and Windows 7 do a much better job with their Sleep mode. Don’t bother hibernating your notebook unless you think that you’ll be going more than two or three hours without using it.

Buying Guide For Cheap Sony Laptop Battery

Generally speaking, a Sony laptop battery can be used for a couple of years before it completely goes dead. Then you will probably think about buying another original one from Sony distributor at a very high price. Now I would like to suggest that buying a cheap replacement battery is also a wise choice. Many people may have many questions, how do you know what to buy, from who to buy, what you even should be looking for when buying a laptop battery? I have classified several categories a person needs to be informed about when going out to make a purchase for a new battery
Laptop model and original battery code (part number)
The original battery code (part number) is quite essential to the purchase of your new laptop
Dell Inspiron 15R batteries. It is a unique identifier that is assigned to a part to simplify referencing and to unambiguously define a part within a single manufacturer. The part number above all is what needs to be known before going to buy your battery. Secondly the make and model are next most important part identifiers you must know. The make is the manufacturer (e.g. Sony, HP, and Dell). The model is a multi-component word that includes the line and actually model number. For example, the Sony VGN-FZ50B (sony vgp-bps8 battery) is an example of a Sony made laptop that is part of the VGN series and which has model number VGN-FZ50B. In other words, the information of model and part number can determine the battery compatibility.
Capacity, Chemistry and Voltage
There are series of questions about capacity you need to know before purchase: how much you want to spend, how often and how long you use your laptop on battery power, and what applications you may be running off the battery’s power. The higher the capacity the more money you will spend, so if you need the longer runtime or you use applications that require more battery power, then buy the higher capacity battery. A milliAmp hour (mAh) is the most commonly used notation system for consumer electronic
HP probook 4510s battery. For example, 4400mah, 6600mah, 8800mah.
Most laptops now require a lithium based battery chemistry, as it has no memory effect. You cannot choose your chemistry type for most batteries. It is still good however to know which chemistry type your battery requires.
For laptop batteries, the most common voltage measurements are: 7.2V, 9.6V, 10.8V, 11.1V, and 14.4V. Since you cannot choose the voltage measurement for your laptop, then go with whatever measurement is closest to your original
acer aspire 5920g series battery. Remember nominal voltage allows for slight deviation from the original but you cannot use a 7.2V battery if it requires 14.4V. The best example would be a 10.8V battery could be used with an 11.1V battery.
Number of Cells
The number of cells is important since the more cells contained in the battery the higher the capacity will be. To determine the number of cells in your laptop battery you need to have some general idea of what cells are being used in your battery. The most common battery cell is the 18650 and is manufactured by LG, Sony, Sanyo, Samsung, Panasonic and many others. The 18650 is a 3.6V cylindrical Li-Ion cell. 18650 has no memory effect (distinguish between digital memory effect) and longer storage life than NiMH battery cells. 18650 is light weight and have a high energy density. It is in effect perfect for building
Acer aspire 5738z battery for laptop and other portable power devices.
Specifically the 18650 battery cell has a nominal voltage average of 3.7 V. It has a nominal capacity of 2200 mAh. It has a maximum charge current of 2.4 Ah and a max discharging current of 4.6 Ah. Its dimensions (DxH) are 18.3 mm (Max 18.4) x 64.9 mm (Max 65.1). It weighs 46.5 g (1.64 oz). It has cell cycle performance of 80% of initial capacity at 300 cycles. All in all the 18650 is a very good battery cell.
Using this common laptop
Acer aspire 4738z battery cell as our base you can determine the number of cells in your laptop battery by doing the following. Divide the battery’s stated voltage by the 18650’s nominal voltage to get the number of cells in series and divide the battery’s stated capacity by the 18650’s nominal capacity to get the number of cells in parallel. Then multiply the results of the series and the parallel to get the total number of cells in the battery.

Keep Your Laptop Battery In Good Health

December 19th, 2011

The battery is a principal element of your laptop, it is also one of most expensive and that which tends more to be damaged with time. To maintain your toshiba satellite a300-1iw battery in good operating condition is thus crucial. The batteries Ion lithium (Li-ion) of the current laptops lose their autonomy mainly because of two factors: Firstly the use, secondly the natural aging of the chemical components. Therefore, whatever the precautions which you will take your compaq presario 2525us battery will wear with time. It is considered that on average a battery at one lifespan from 18 to 24 months, last this time its autonomy is likely to strongly drop. The first thing to understand in connection with your laptop battery it is that it loses a little its load permanently it loses a little its load permanently even if you do not use it. More the temperature of the battery is high more quickly it discharges. Thus the first thing to be made is to preserve your battery as fresh as possible. The manufacturers store their toshiba satellite l300d-11v battery around the 15° what they regard as the ideal temperature. On the other hand, to cool too much your battery (such as for example by arranging it in your refrigerator) risk to damage it definitively. The second thing to know it is that the autonomy of your battery decrease a little with each cycle of charge/discharge. What is not surprising, but when one combines it with the preceding point that can involve astonishing consequences:When a laptop user leaves his compaq presario c710el battery in his machine but guard his adapter connected to the sector, the battery of its computer passes constantly by cycles of charge/discharge!A battery which remains utilized inside a laptop discharges a little more quickly than the normal because of the heat released by operation from the computer. Once that the level of load goes down below a predetermined level (different for each manufacturer), the adapter reloads the hp g6000 series battery until the maximum. As the battery ages this cycle is increasingly short what still accelerates the degradation of its autonomy. Therefore, if you do not use your battery, store it out of your laptop in a fresh and dry place.
